Application Note: Evaluating cellular progression through apoptosis via multiple different pathways
Apoptosis is an essential mechanism for the maintenance of cell populations, immune system and development. Deviations from homeostatic apoptosis can cause several diseases like neurodegeneration and cancer. Therefor drugs that modulate levels of apoptosis have long been a target for drug discovery in a multitude of therapeutic areas.
This application note illustrates the use of the iQue® 3 advanced flow cytometry platform and iQue® Human 4-Plex Apoptosis Kit to measure apoptosis in a simple, mix and read assay format. The kit provides an in-depth analysis of cell health by simultaneous measurement of up to 4 markers of apoptosis:
- Mitochondrial depolarization
- Caspase 3/7 activity
- Annexin V binding
- Cell viability
